About Chloe

I’ve had a passion for film from a young age, with a particular love for arthouse, experimental cinema, and the classics. I’m deeply interested in how visual storytelling works as a whole, and I believe color grading should be able to shine on its own while still linking seamlessly with the other departments that make a film cohesive and expressive.

I have experience teaching at AFDA Film School in South Africa, where I taught for one year, and I further developed my teaching skills by completing a CELTA qualification and teaching Business English to adults for another year. These experiences have helped me learn how to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt my teaching to different learning styles.

I’m drawn to teaching because I genuinely love the process of transferring knowledge and seeing that “lightbulb moment” when something finally clicks for a student. I also believe that skilled colorists are still few and far between - and the industry needs more of them. I’m passionate about helping new colorists find their footing and build confidence in this craft.

I have worked on local and international films that have won awards such as the Simon Sabela Award for Best Student Film (SA), Loeries Gold and Silver Awards for Best Student Film and Best Craft (SA), Durban International Film Festival Gold Award for Best Student Film (SA). A few UK films I have graded screened on Amazon Prime and Showmax. Throughout my studies I have won a few gold awards for Best Color Grading and Best Student Film.

About the lesson

I believe the best way to learn colour grading is by doing. My lessons are hands-on and practical, designed to help you build confidence in DaVinci Resolve from the ground up.

I recommend students have access to DaVinci Resolve and the ability to share their screen, so we can work through tools and techniques together in real time. I also provide test footage via Google Drive, allowing us to practise grading on real material during our sessions.

I specialise in teaching beginners who are just getting started with DaVinci Resolve, helping them develop a strong, solid foundation in colour correction and grading that they can build on for their own projects.
