About Abigail

As an alumna of the University of the Western Cape and current
PGCE student in partnership with Stadio, I pride myself in the
prestigious educational background I was afforded to experience.
Being a young woman from a socio-economically challenged
background, I have learnt the importance of discipline; hard
work; dedication to a vision and the execution of one's dreams.
During my undergrad tertiary career, I joined a law firm situated
in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town as a Receptionist
(Temp/Locum) and I gained experience in legal reception and
administrative skills in those 4 years. Apart from my job duties in
the above-mentioned sector, I also have experience as a Brand
Ambassador for various agencies in the retail and sales
department. Working whenever I had no classes to attend was
extremely challenging, but it gave me a sense of work ethic and a
dedication to executing my dreams like never before. I pride
myself in the skills I have learnt; among them being
Communication/Verbal, Administration, Reception, Legal
Secretarial and Ad-hoc duties. I also have proficiency in Microsoft
Excel, Word, Office etc. I managed multiple switchboards as I was
a Temp Receptionist for two different firms. Apart from the
above, I have additional practical experience in teaching at a high
school for grades 7 to 12 in the subjects ranging from Afrikaans
and History. I also have observed lessons and classes in other
subjects. I do have informal experience in tutoring high school
learners.
Being a teacher has truly been my lifelong dream. I recall calling all of my childhood friends into my room, where I had a blackboard and some chalk; and a room filled with books and pens of every colour. My friends would be the "learners" and I would be the teacher. This is where I knew I would pursue this noble career one day. The day that I stepped into a classroom as a student teacher, my heart throbbed just as the days of old! The passion for my learners and their overall wellbeing fuelled my desire to continue to work hard to pursue my dreams. I have seen and worked with children from different walks of life and one thing has been constant in each child's eyes- the hunger for one teacher to make a complete difference in their lives and to ensure that they were not left behind. Learners need more than a teacher- they need a mentor.

As an alumna of the University of the Western Cape I pride myself
in the prestigious educational background I was afforded to
experience. I am currently a student teacher in partnership with
Stadio (School of Education) completing my PGCE part time. I
have had a lifelong dream of becoming an educator and my
passion to help young minds learn and develop has only fuelled
the love I have for this noble profession. This is why I would be
delighted to help your child to excel in their school career! During
my undergraduate career, I majored in modules such as:

I believe that no child should navigate through school just by "passing", but by doing exceptionally well. My motto in education is: "No child is left behind". Learning goes beyond a classroom and as a tutor and future educator, I offer my children the gift of learning- through inclusivity, creativity, passion, patience and having the ability to make every child feel significant in each lesson. What the learner does with this engagement through learning is their gift back to the world!
