About Maya

Hi, My name is Maya and I am a recent Masters graduate with a degree in Development Economics and Policy. I have tutored throughout my educational career as a peer tutor to classmates and previously worked as a private tutor after completing my BA in Economics. I enjoy teaching because it's rewarding to see a student finally grasp a difficult topic and I'm passionate about this subject, using maths to explore social science is very cool!!

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised to the student/individuals' needs. I initially ask what areas of focus the individual would like to improve on and conduct an initial assessment to gauge current knowledge. Based on the results, I design a lesson plan and makeshift assessments throughout our meetings to test progress. This lesson plan will be open to discussion with the student. I also prioritise access needs for students with learning or language disabilities and am happy to cater the lessons to make learning more accessible and enjoyable.

I was having trouble with a college level elementary statistics class so I looked to Maya for help on the statistic concepts I was struggling with. When it came time for the final exam, I was able to apply those concepts in SAQ format and word problems on the difficult final exam. I was able to get an A in the class thanks to her help.
