About LJ
I have been writing songs since the age of 10 and have accumulated many skills over the years, both through trial and error and instruction from others. I am currently in my first year of a Bachelor of Music majoring in Songwriting and was the only songwriting student (that I know of) to receive a full music scholarship to the university based on my submission portfolio. I also have experience in performing original and cover songs in front of others, recording (both at home and in a studio) as well as creating band charts and lead sheets.
Additionally I am a multi-instrumentalist with a passion for music and sharing the joys of the craft with others. I have been playing instruments for over 9 years, received individual lessons in guitar, drumkit/percussion and voice during high school and completed both solo and group music performance/theory subjects in year 12. I want to become a music teacher one day, so I feel that this is the best place to start!

A wise songwriting teacher once told me that the one thing that songwriters have that artists of other mediums don't is the chorus. You know that tune with the catchy lyrics that gets stuck in your head?
In our lessons we will look at writing songs with a practical and hands on approach, focusing on what the student is interested in whilst also taking a look at what makes songs number 1. I'll ask you about your interests and short term/long term goals and assess how experienced you are first, then from there I'll give you the tools, advice and feedback you need to grow musically whilst ensuring I don't overload you with information. Things we might look at include song structure, games and exercises to spark song ideas, digital and manual tools to create music and anything else that could help inspire your songwriting genius.

Must give at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or you will be charged the full cost of the lesson.
Unfortunately at this time I am unable to provide lessons in person in locations difficult for me to get to via public transport, bike or walking without getting a taxi/Uber. If you are really keen to have me teach you in person, we can discuss compensation for travel :)
