About Kyle
I am a 21-year-old Economics student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have previously taught guitar, piano, and music theory with BOLD Music in Charlotte and with the Lake Norman School of Music. I was tutored in music theory and piano at Northwest School of the Arts as well as privately by an industry composer. I have been studying music theory for 12 years and finger-style guitar for 8.

Pedagogical Method
I believe that the primary goal of an instructor is to save a student from the excessive use of cognitive energy that comes from autodidacticism. It is the instructor's job to bring the important information directly to the student, and to explain its implementation as simply as possible.
To implement this philosophy, I ensure that all students have a foundational knowledge of the roots of finger-style guitar (essential chords and right-hand technique), while allowing them to choose for themselves which branches of the craft they would like to explore (bluegrass, jazz, classical, etc.).
What I Offer Instruction On
The Basics: Open chords | Scales and scale degrees | Sight reading | Instrument and nail care | Exercises for increasing finger dexterity.
Right-hand Technique: Travis picking | Tremolo | Sweep picking | Cascading harmonics.
Left-hand Concepts: A unique approach to chordal harmony inspired by jazz guitarist Ted Greene | Chord shapes for alternate tunings (FACGE, DADGAD, DGDGBD etc.)
