Hi, I’m Stephanie!

I’m currently finishing my first year at the University of Waterloo in the Legal Studies program. I graduated from high school in a Sci-Tech program, where I developed strong communication, critical thinking, and study skills that I now apply to my tutoring.

I have a strong background in French and was honored with a French award at graduation, recognizing my achievement and proficiency in the language. This reflects both my understanding of French and my ability to use it effectively in reading, writing, and communication.

As a tutor, I’m patient, supportive, and professional. I focus on helping students truly understand the language while building their confidence in speaking, writing, and comprehension. Because I’ve recently been through the same school system, I understand what teachers are looking for and how to help students succeed.

I take pride in being reliable, organized, and committed to each student’s progress. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace.

Hi, I’m Stephanie!

My approach as a tutor is centered around making learning clear, personalized, and confidence-building. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to fit each individual’s needs, whether that means breaking concepts down step-by-step, using examples, or focusing on practice and repetition.

Teaching methodology & techniques:
I focus on active learning rather than memorization. This includes guided practice, interactive explanations, and encouraging students to explain concepts back to me to ensure real understanding. For French, I incorporate a balance of reading, writing, speaking, and translation to build well-rounded skills.

Typical lesson plan:
A lesson usually starts with a quick review of previous material, followed by working through current challenges (homework, assignments, or new topics). I then introduce key concepts with clear explanations and examples, followed by practice exercises. We finish with a recap and tips for improvement to reinforce learning.

What sets me apart:
As a first-year university student, I recently went through the same curriculum, so I understand common struggles and how to overcome them. I’m patient, approachable, and focused on building both skills and confidence, not just getting the right answers.
