My Approach to Teaching -
I take a supportive and personalised approach to teaching, adapting each lesson to the student’s goals, pace, and learning style. I focus on building strong fundamentals in technique, posture, and music theory, while also keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. I aim to develop both confidence and creativity, whether a student is preparing for exams or simply playing for enjoyment.
Teaching Methodology -
My lessons combine practical playing with theory and musical interpretation. I break down complex pieces into manageable sections and use a step-by-step approach to help students progress steadily. I also encourage regular practice habits and provide clear guidance on how to improve between lessons with lesson and practise plans.
Lesson Structure and Length -
Lessons typically last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s level and preference. Each session usually includes warm-ups or technical exercises, work on pieces, and feedback with clear goals for the next lesson. When teaching beginners, I often incorporate music theory to build a strong musical foundation.
Qualifications and Experience -
As a university student with strong musical training, I have developed both performance skills and a solid understanding of music theory. I have an ARSM Piano Diploma and play Violin to a high standard. I have experience teaching adults and young children with special needs such as autism and ADHD.
