About Berenice
I am a university student studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of York, with a strong academic background in English, achieving grade 9 in both English Literature and Language at GCSE and an A* in A-Level English Literature. Alongside my studies, I volunteer in a primary school, supporting young people in their education and helping to build my academic skills and confidence.
Having recently excelled in these exams myself, I understand what the examiners are looking for and the techniques needed to achieve top grades.
Outside of tutoring, I am a member of my university athletics club and enjoy running, as well as reading widely and baking in my spare time. I am organised, patient and reliable, and I aim to create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.

I tutor English Literature and English language, primarily at GCSE level, but I am happy to work with students of any age or ability.
My lessons are structured, supportive and tailored to each student's needs. We focus on improving essay structure, developing strong textual analysis, expanding vocabulary, and mastering exam technique. I break down mark schemes clearly so students understand exactly what examiners are looking for.
Lessons typically last one hour and can include close analysis of set texts, practice exam questions, feedback on essays, and targeted work on weaker areas. My aim is to not only improve grades, but to help students feel more confident and capable in English.
