University student in Management Sciences gives Business and Marketing lessons to middle school and college students in Pretoria

Methodology

Duration : 2hr - Price : R150.00 - Place : Pretoria (0001)My name is Siphenathi Tracy Madadasa from Cape Town but based in Pretoria. My lessons are available for High School in grade 8 till 12 and College students who are in their level 2 and 3.

The lesson structure is as follow:
1. Gather data with interactive- Use interactive questions to gather formative assessment data about the knowledge level of your students. Plan and pace your lessons accordingly with the immediate feedback. Use interactives to clarify learning outcomes or to test student understanding before scaffolding the learning process.
2. Support to plan lessons- You can tailor interactive videos for different levels of understanding, meeting the needs of all students. Offer further support by adapting your question content. Use the suggested lesson plans and other ClickView educational resources, such as worksheets and activities, to help structure your lessons and save you time.
3. Promote student engagement- Introduce new topics or learning areas with a video “hook” from a relevant video in the collection. It only takes moments for students to lose focus. You can build your playlists ahead of time for lessons that run seamlessly and keep students on topic.
4. Reinforce content understanding- Use video regularly to reinforce topic content for students and stimulate engagement. The clipping tool helps scaffold this engagement, allowing you to create just the right length video for your particular class. The ability to rewatch video at home can reinforce content for students who may not understand concepts in class, without holding other students back.

My characteristics as a tutor are as follows:
1. Patience- learning to be patient is the first baby step I must take. It’s likely that in my tutoring career’s journey, I will meet a myriad of students. Each would come from a different background. Each will have different areas of weakness and strength. All of them will have very different expectations from their tutor.

2. Flexibility, Dynamism & Openness to Changing- Timetables – I may need to re-adjust your work hours depending on a new after school project or a hobby class chosen by your student. Greater flexibility with respect to scheduling of classes will ensure you long students who generally perform better than those who have been with you for a shorter span.
Teaching style – if giving out blackboard lessons isn’t enough, I will provide printed notes or cheat sheets! If students ask for more example-based teaching, I will work up examples before taking a class. I am prepared to customize teaching style to the needs of your students.
Performance measurement – if subjective tests are more your style, I may be tempted to stick to only one every month. But introducing a quick 5 question objective test after each class will help me achieve much better results with some students. I am open to changing the yardstick of performance measurement from time to time.

3. Emotional IQ- If I feel my student needs emotional support, I will be open to hearing them out. I will not ignore a student who looks distressed and waits for the things to settle down on their own. Often an empathetic statement like – ‘dear would you want a day or two off from classes? You’re bright and we can cover it up, once you’re sorted my child,’ can make a whole lot of difference.
