About Isaac
*Experience*
While studying for my Mathematics degree, I soon released that Computer Science theory and practical coding were more interesting to me than mathematical proofs. So I changed directions and completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering that was all computational work. After completing my PhD, I wanted to get others excited about programming - so spent a year working for a charity running coding clubs and teacher training on the new (in 2014!) Computer Science curriculum. Six years ago, I was tempted back into the academic world and since then have worked as a Teaching Engineer at the University of Oxford. I spend most of my time teaching people how to program in MATLAB.
*Qualifications*
I hold a PGCert in Higher Education, am a certified Software Carpentries instructor, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

*Who am I?*
I have 11 years teaching experience to a range of people: I have run coding clubs for families with children as young as 5, and supported work class researchers at University of Oxford. I believe computing is for everyone.
*Who can I help?*
Anyone who needs some support with computer programming aka coding. I am not very experienced with exam boards and curriculums, so I'm probably not who you want to pass GCSE Computer Science, however if you want someone who has years of experience with programming to help you on your own journey - that's me! Perhaps you've started self studying and making an app and got a bit stuck. Perhaps you're an undergraduate stuck on your final year project.
*How can I help?*
Rather than prescribe to a particular curriculum, I would like to support you working on your own projects (as I think having ownership over something is the best way to learn!). I can explain a range of computing techniques that can improve your project, so that you have sound understanding of the theory and can implement it yourself in the future.
Open to any lesson length, an hour is typical but I am flexible.
