About Amira
I graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in English Language and Literature; I also have two MA degrees in Law. My passion for English began at a young age; years of wide-ranging reading developed my unparalleled understanding of the English canon and exceptional writing skills, both of which helped me secure my place at Oxford. I love to teach because I believe that strong communication skills — whether in writing or critical thinking — are invaluable, yet often underdeveloped. My goal is to help students not only excel in exams but also master the art of clear, effective, and sophisticated writing. I provide a hands-on approach that goes beyond school curricula, focusing on the structure, style, and substance of written work, as well as the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed academically and intellectually. My lessons are tailored to each student’s unique needs. I like to begin with a short consultation to assess your current work; this allows me to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and to set clear goals. This also gives you the space to let me know if there is anything in particular that you struggle with, or that you’d like my help with. I design personalised lesson plans using exam board criteria, and I will also provide examples of my own Oxford-level essays to guide your essay writing. I focus on honing your writing abilities and introducing you to wider reading that will help your essays stand out, in order to get you to the A* threshold. Any work that you produce will be marked in detail, and I will be available beyond our tutoring sessions to help you with any questions or concerns that might arise.
