About Chantal

I am a professional and educated individual who has a passion for teaching and helping others. I have an MA in Music from the University of Ottawa with a Specialization in Gender Studies. I may continue my education and go to teacher's college in a few years, or do another MA but in Music Therapy.

About the lesson

I absolutely love teaching and music, but I am also skilled in teaching other subjects; such as English and History. I have a BA(hons) in Music with a minor in history and an MA in Music with a concentration in gender studies from the University of Ottawa.

As a music instructor, I do have a particular niche that I discovered back in 2019. When it comes to teaching children, I am particularly skilled at teaching ages 6 and below. I have taught so many children of this age group with so much success that I didn't have time in my schedule for all the clients that wanted their kids to take lessons with me!

My students are provided with a strong musical foundation that will prepare them for their musical path, whether it be a career or lifetime hobby. If you are interested in your child completing the Royal Conservatory of Music exams to gain high school credits, I'm the teacher for you! I have never had a student fail an exam or receive a grade below 70%.

Music is more than simply playing notes on a page, as it encompasses various art forms such as dancing, singing and storytelling; these elements are incorporated into my lessons.

Regardless if music is a hobby or a career, all areas of music are covered in each lesson to show all that music has to offer; theory, history, sight reading, ear training, and learning repertoire. I seek to find the area of music that will spark your love for music and compel you to this wonderful and joyous pass-time.

I really enjoy teaching all ages and levels as I love providing lessons tailored specifically to each individual's learning style and needs.

I believe that music and learning should always be enjoyable and fun. Learning music should never be a stressful experience! I like to include music games and play-based activities in my lessons and through experience, I have come to realize that children absolutely love my lessons! I also believe that adults should have fun too and play games as well! Games are tailored to the age group of the student but also each individual's learning style and preference. I am always making new music games (i.e. weekly) to keep lessons fresh and exciting.

I have experience teaching in a private lessons setting but also official classrooms, since I taught grade 6/7 at a Catholic School last year. I easily was able to create engaging lesson plans and get my students to become excited about learning.
