About Dr Abi

Hi, I’m Abi – Here to Help You Succeed! I’m a university lecturer with a real passion for supporting students. My background is in studying motivation, and I’m fascinated by how trauma and learning behaviours shape young people’s experiences, as well as the political and social environments we’ve created. I know academic work can be challenging, and I’m here to help. I pride myself on being friendly, understanding, and supportive, whether you’re working on critical writing skills or tackling complex ideas in psychology, education, or the social sciences. The best part of my job is seeing my students grow. I love providing feedback that makes a real difference, and it’s so rewarding when students tell me how much they’ve improved. About the lesson

I’ve got a PhD in Education and Psychology, where I looked at what motivates young people to learn. For the last six years, I’ve been teaching at university, focusing on helping students develop their critical writing skills. I know how tricky essay writing can be, especially when it comes to building strong arguments. I struggled with this when I started university too! That’s why I offer one-on-one online sessions to help undergraduate and master’s students improve their writing and feel more confident about it. My sessions are completely tailored to you. I use a toolkit I’ve developed from my teaching and workshop experience. Before we start, I’ll send you a quick questionnaire to get a sense of what you want to focus on. In our first session, we’ll chat more about what you’re looking for and what your goals are. From there, we’ll work together using discussions, practical exercises, and feedback to make real progress. I like to keep things informal and relaxed—it’s easier to learn when you’re comfortable! Whether you need just one session, a few to get you through a tricky spot, or longer-term support, I’m here to help. Let’s make critical writing less stressful and more manageable!
