About Richard
I use pieces of music to help students develop a variety of techniques. It's my philosophy that a student should get more out of learning a piece than just being able to play that piece. They should have learned some new technique or developed a musical concept or skill as well. I always encourage my students to ask questions and work to accommodate every student's learning style.

With over 20 years of experience teaching university students, as well as other students of all ages, I have developed the ability to cater my lessons to any learning style. There are certain fundamentals that every guitarist needs to know, but it is always my aim to assess where a student is at the beginning of the lessons and where they want to be in the future and help them get there. We will work on practice techniques and focus on making the process productive and fun.
