About Harriet
Hello, my name is Harriet (I do prefer Hattie, however!) and I am a first year undergraduate student at the University of Durham.
I have tutored now for several years, languages are something that have come very naturally to me, however I can very much appreciate how difficult they can be to others.
My younger sister (of GCSE age) is one of those who have struggled with languages. Aspects such as differentiating between tenses, a lack of confidence with speaking, and difficulties with 'picking out' the right information in a listening exercise were hard for her. She was almost bound at a grade 3/4 on a Foundation paper, however, after a couple of sessions with me, she got her first grade 7 (grade A) and full marks on an in-class speaking assessment.

As an introductory session, it is crucial that I find out your level, and we will work from there. This varies according to stage of education (I will teach GCSE significantly more different that A Level).
Assuming GCSE age, we will go over all grammar structures (including past, present, imperfect, pluperfect and basic subjunctive tenses) and then thematically go over the vocabulary associated. Grammar worksheets, vocabulary tests are to be done outside of the tutoring, and then to be gone over in 'class'.
Assuming A Level (or equivalent) standard, we will revise all tenses mentioned above and more. Alongside this, there will be set sessions for each element of the exams: an oral (divided into 2 parts: the IRP and general speaking exam), a reading, and a writing.
Lessons would typically be between an hour to an hour and a half long, as I believe any more would lead to a less effective session, however I would be more than happy to do longer/shorter sessions.
