About Joe
I am a PhD student at University College London studying Medieval Italian literary history. My academic background is in history and literature. I have a dual BA degree in Italian literature and Classics from the University of Notre Dame, and an MPhil degree in Medieval history from the University of Cambridge (Robinson College). Additionally, I student taught in an Italian high school during the 2017/2018 academic year--primarily in English but assisting with literature, art history, and philosophy classes as well.

I believe that education, especially in small groups or a one-on-one setting, should be driven by the student. My role as a tutor is to help make the educational journey as smooth as possible by: responding to student questions and concerns (especially by using the Socratic method and helping students to reach conclusions themselves), offering tips to improve problem areas and facilitate long-term comprehension, and by working within the framework of student interests to ensure engagement with the material.
