About Amy
Hi! I’m Amy, a first-year student at the University of Bath, where I’m studying Social Policy. I’ve always enjoyed English and particularly love exploring literature, developing ideas and finding different ways to express them. I want to teach because I know how much of a difference it can make to have someone explain a difficult topic in a way that finally makes sense.
I aim to create a friendly, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence. I’ll take the time to understand each student’s individual strengths and areas for improvement, adapting my approach to help them make genuine progress.
Having recently completed my own GCSEs and A-levels, I understand the challenges students face and the importance of effective exam technique, clear explanations and feeling confident in your abilities. I’d love to help students enjoy English while developing the skills they need to succeed.

I tailor every lesson to the student’s individual level, goals and learning style. I use clear explanations, guided practice, exam-style questions and constructive feedback to help students understand difficult concepts and build confidence. Lessons can focus on essay writing, analysis, exam technique, creative writing, comprehension or any specific areas the student would like to improve.
I offer both 30-minute and 1-hour sessions, with the content and pace adapted accordingly. I teach English from primary level through to GCSE and A-level, supporting students of different abilities and ages.
I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE English Language and Literature, an A in A-level English Literature, 60/60 in my A-level NEA coursework and a Distinction in my English Spoken Language assessment. As a first-year University of Bath student, I bring a strong academic background and an approachable, supportive teaching style to every lesson.
