About Umema
I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Auckland, supported by the UoA Doctoral Scholarship, one of the university's most competitive research awards. I don't just explain what economics says, I explain why it matters and where it comes from.
With six years of teaching experience, I specialize in microeconomics, macroeconomics, development economics, econometrics, and behavioral economics.
I have successfully taught economics to a diverse range of students, from high school learners to undergraduates, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for the subject.
I approach every student as an individual — some need exam technique, some need conceptual clarity, and some need both. My job is to figure out which, quickly, and teach accordingly.
I am patient, thorough, and genuinely invested in the progress of the people I work with.

Economics can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to. As a UoA Doctoral Scholar, I've spent years breaking down complex economic theory into ideas that actually make sense.
My lessons are built around your goals: whether that's passing an exam, understanding a tricky concept, or building genuine confidence in the subject.
A typical session starts by identifying exactly where you're stuck, then working through the concept using real-world examples, like housing markets, inflation, or money marke, before applying it to your actual coursework.
I don't do generic textbook explanations. Just targeted, clear teaching that fits your level.
