About Tobias

Born and raised in Auckland, Aotearoa, I grew up like most Kiwi kids; swimming at the beach or exploring the bush in Summer, buying a sausage from a sausage sizzle outside the Warehouse, eating fish & chips on Saturday night in front of the TV. Now, as a expat living in Japan, I am particularly aware of the challenges immigrants face moving to a new country, with a new culture and new language.

I am dedicated to helping people who come from around the world in pursuit of a new and better life in NZ through a mastery of NZ English. In combination with my extensive academic, professional and international background, along with over 8 years EFL teaching experience in Japan with students of all ages, levels and backgrounds, I am ready to help you achieve your goals with English.

About the lesson

With over 8 years experience teaching Engish to learners of all ages in Japan, as well as both a LLB and BA from the University of Auckland, I am dedicated to helping my students find a fun and engaging way to master English.

Choose from the following lesson packages to suit your needs:

20 min - $20
Short, intensive lessons focussed around a single topic or grammar point. Book 3 - 4 of these lessons a week to supercharge your progress with high frequency classes.
Recommended for Intermediate or High School students, or students learning for day-to-day life.

40 min - $30
Standard lesson, with just enough time to do some deep learning and practice drills, without being so long as to become too tiring. 1 or 2 of these lessons a week can help you make great strides in English.
Recommended for professional or business English students.

50 min - $35
For students who want the extra practice, conversation or more detailed explanations. With 50m lessons once or twice a week, you will gain a much deeper understanding of English.
Recommended for IELTS, TOEIC or University Students.

All levels will combine topical study, drills and exercises, games and free conversation to give you a complete English learning experience. We will use my own, handmade digital materials, as well as a textbook specifically chosen for your level and goals (we will discuss which textbook is best after a trial lesson).
