About Yusraa

I am a History undergraduate at the University of Oxford with a strong academic background in Economics, having achieved an A* at A-level. I also studied History and Chemistry, giving me a well-rounded, analytical approach that combines essay-based evaluation with clear, structured problem-solving.

I have completed over 1,000 hours of both one-to-one and group tuition, including work with a professional tuition agency, which has trained me to uphold the highest academic and professional standards. This experience has allowed me to work with students of varying abilities and tailor my teaching to suit individual learning styles.

My Economics teaching focuses on clear explanation of core concepts, strong exam technique, and precise evaluation, helping students understand not just what to write, but how to secure top marks. I place particular emphasis on structuring answers effectively, using diagrams accurately, and developing balanced, well-evidenced arguments.

I create all of my own resources using an iPad and keep an individual progress file for each student, allowing me to track development closely and keep parents fully up to date on progress and targets.

I am organised, reliable, and committed to helping students build confidence and achieve their full potential in Economics, whether they are aiming to strengthen their understanding or push for the highest grades.

My approach to tutoring Economics is structured, exam-focused, and tailored to each student’s needs. I aim to ensure students not only understand economic theory but can also apply it effectively in exams, particularly in essays and data-response questions.

Lessons typically involve:

- Clear explanations of economic concepts, using real-world examples to strengthen understanding and retention.

- Strong focus on exam technique, including how to interpret command words, structure answers, and meet assessment objectives.

- Essay-writing support, covering planning, building coherent chains of analysis, evaluation, and using diagrams effectively.

- Data-response practice, teaching students how to extract key information, apply theory accurately, and develop evaluative points.

- Detailed feedback, helping students refine clarity, precision, and economic reasoning.

I place particular emphasis on developing logical argumentation, clear use of economic terminology, and balanced evaluation—key skills for achieving top grades at A-level.

Typical lesson length

Lessons usually last 60 minutes, which allows time to cover content, practise exam questions, and review answers in detail. Longer sessions can be arranged for revision or intensive exam preparation.

Qualifications and experience

I am an Oxford undergraduate, with strong academic experience in analytical writing and structured argumentation. This background enables me to help students understand what high-level responses look like and how to move from descriptive to analytical and evaluative answers.

I am especially well-suited to helping students aiming for A/A* grades or those looking to improve essay quality and exam confidence. But most of all, what’s important to me is that a student feels that they can and will improve.
