About Sophie
Hi I'm Sophie, I love English and I'm passionate about teaching. I am patient and willing to go at whatever pace is necessary to help achieve confidence and capability in your English skills. For me, the most important aspect of teaching is teamwork, we will work as a team to help you reach those milestones and personal goals, during our sessions we can communicate and I can help with your strengths and weaknesses in a closer proximity than in a classroom. However, I understand that tutoring can be intimidating, especially one on one so if it would make the learning process easier and more comfortable we can organise small group sessions of people with similar needs!

Student-led learning, we can go over any technique or topic in a broken-down process where we can build up skills at a pace appropriate for the student. We will work together to build up skills and confidence in a safe and positive environment, which is not always available in a typical classroom setting. A standard lesson would be an hour but we're guaranteed to make the most of it. I received an A in English A-level and despite not studying it at degree level, it was my favourite subject and I am still keeping my knowledge active within the English Lit society. I have had a lot of experience with teaching, I used to coach trampolining and despite it being a different skill I learnt effective communication with students of many different ages. I also worked at morning and after school clubs at a local primary school where I would help with their homework. These lessons are for anyone, any school age who is struggling with English, exam prep for GCSE and A level or confident students who want to expand and develop their knowledge and essay writing technique.
