About Stonegarden
My name is stonegarden grindlife and I have over a decade of experience teaching and advising thousands of students of varied backgrounds as an instructor at UCLA. I have provided one-on-one advice on research and writing samples for those aspiring to top-tier PhD programs. As a matter of my expertise working as a Legislative Analyst at LexisNexis and my training as a Political Scientist, I have also helped place hundreds of students at top law schools, including Stanford and Georgetown. I also serve as an Academic Mentor, helping high school students around the globe prepare for the Ivy League application process. I contribute one-on-one brainstorming, writing research strategies, and editing feedback for essay competitions, including the John Locke Institute Essay, the New York Times Writing Contest, the Harvard Crimson Global Essay, the Harvard International Economics Essay, and the Marshall Economics Essay. I also guide students in Independent Research Projects to develop article-length work of publishable quality. More generally, I provide in-depth insights on topics including Politics, Government, Philosophy, Economics, Communications Psychology, Statistics, Programming Methods, and Law. On top of guiding students through the academic process, I also have a wealth of experience in the private sector. During my own doctoral work and thereafter, I have served as a programmer, statistician, data scientist, and general adviser helping startups to get off the ground and get acquired. My knowledge of current technological trends and statistical methods serves to further aid my mentees in the practical realities of developing research designs and theoretical rigor for not only those who are seeking entry into undergrad, but also those who are near its end in the dissertating phase of their academic journey.

Beyond the particulars of my background and various areas of expertise, it is probably most important to understand this: I legitimately love teaching. From the lecture hall to the more personal interactions I have with students in office hours to the time I have spent working with students around the globe online, I find teaching to be an extremely humanizing experience. It is a reward in and of itself, and I would love to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be, in your own learning process. In my years of helping students become the best version of themselves that they can be, I have discovered that we all have superpowers.
