About Sophie
First and foremost, I am a storyteller in the screenwriting, filmmaking, and podcasting realms. I hold a bachelor's degree from Fordham University in both Film & Television and Philosophy, for which I was a department tutor. I went on to receive my Masters of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from UCLA's School of Film, Theater, and Television, where I was a teaching assistant and recipient of the Kenneth MacGowan Family Screenwriting Award.
Storytelling is my passion, and I find nothing more fulfilling than sharing this knowledge to help fellow writers discover their unique points of view.

My teaching style combines lecture and hands-on workshop methods to give students a firm grasp on storytelling fundamentals as well as develop their unique artistic voice.
A typical lesson focuses on a central topic, such as character, plot, or structure, which is used to guide critical analysis on an example from media (film, book, screenplay, etc.), followed by workshop exercises designed to help the student apply the principles to their own work.
As a teaching assistant at UCLA and consultant for various film festivals, I have experience instructing and providing feedback to writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience. My lessons can be tailored to suit the skill level of the student as I firmly believe that one can never be too young or too old to learn to express themselves creatively!
