About Nita

I hold a Ph.D. in Critical Studies from UCLA, where I received the Otis Ferguson Critical Writing Award, and research fellowships at the UC Humanities Research Institute, the University of Paris III, and the Collège International de Philosophie. I earned an M.A. in Film Theory from Ohio State, and a B.A. in Philosophy and Creative Writing from Ohio Wesleyan University, where I graduated summa cum laude.

I've taught undergraduate and graduate English composition and film studies, and published peer-reviewed scholarship in Cinema Journal, Wide Angle, Rolling Rorschach, Innovation Magazine, New Design Magazine, and other journals. I'm also the co-author of The Open Brand, a former newspaper film critic and magazine editor.

I've spent more than 25 years researching, writing, and editing complex work across the humanities, cultural studies, technology, and business.

What I most enjoy is helping writers discover the intellectual architecture of their own ideas—finding the argument within the research and developing the clarity, rigor, and confidence to make it compelling.

My approach is collaborative, rigorous, and tailored to the intellectual challenges of each student. I work primarily with graduate students and ABD doctoral candidates in the humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.

We begin by identifying the central difficulty: an underdeveloped argument, unwieldy literature review, unclear theoretical framework, disjointed chapters, or challenging committee feedback. Each session combines close reading, critical discussion, and practical revision strategies, with clear priorities for the work ahead.

Drawing on my UCLA Ph.D., university teaching experience, and extensive record of scholarly and professional publication, I bring both analytical depth and editorial judgment to the process.

My goal is not simply better prose, but stronger thinking, greater intellectual confidence, and a dissertation or thesis that expresses the student's own distinctive contribution.
