About Matthew

My name is Matthew Saunders. I am a medical student at Cambridge University, and I am aspiring to help other students follow in my footsteps. I am extremely qualified to tutor medical applications, demonstrated by my UCAT score of 3140 (equivalent to 2355 in the new format), and my BMAT score (7.9, 8.2, 3.5A) - these made me a top 0.25% applicant. Although BMAT is no longer used, I believe the good grounding in scientific knowledge, which is used in BMAT, is essential to excel at Oxbridge interviews. I achieved 4 A*s in my A levels, and I am now thriving on the Cambridge medicine course. I believe I have the expertise and experience to help students obtain an offer to study medicine, while making the process fun and productive.

About the lesson

I tutor year 12 and 13 students in the UK with their medical applications, including personal statements (new format), UCAT and interviews. Lesson lengths are flexible to the needs of the student. For UCAT, we will have 4 lessons as an introduction to each section (only 4 in the new format). From there, as a baseline I offer 6 further lessons where we can go over questions together - having been placed in the top 2% of students, I am well qualified for this. On top of these 10 lessons (as a guaranteed minimum), I offer free WhatsApp communication where you can send me as many results and questions as you like. Personal statement tutoring will mainly be a 'conversation' type style. You will send me a draft, I will annotate with feedback, repeat. I will also offer general and personalised advice drawn from experience. Interview tutoring will include practice questions, mock interviews, and concise feedback, but this is only available for Oxbridge interviews. I believe in helping those students who deserve a place in a medicine programme to obtain that place, so they can contribute to the future of medicine and healthcare.

Perfect! Matthew is brilliant at explaining parts that I found difficult to understand while going over questions from each section of the UCAT. He takes his time to make you understand and provides extra questions to practise after in my own time with the aid of the PowerPoints. I definitely recommend him as a mentor for UCAT.

Matthew is a perfect tutor! He always prepare everything for me and has a solid plan in order to help me to achieve the grade I want! He’s PowerPoint is specific to my exam board and he always prepare me a lot of exam questions at the end ( and also teaching me exam techniques!) it is really useful, with his help, I managed to achieve a predicted grade of A* with a percentage of 87 in my end of year exam, which I didn’t thought that I was able to achieve it without his support. Also, with Matthew’s help I managed to go through A2 knowledge in one month before my year 13 start, which is typically helpful and efficient. He is an excellent teacher! (Rate 5/5 only because the limit is a 5 star)
