About Avani
Hello, I am an Art Historian and Art Conservator by profession. I dwell into studying art and restore it.
I want to teach to transform art from a distant, academic subject into a tangible human experience. By teaching both the historical "why" and the technical "how," stripping away the mystery of the museum object and empower your students to see themselves as part of a living lineage of creators who can actually hold history in their hands.

History is more than a timeline; it is only truly understood when the dots feel connected. Art history is the study of that unique grace ancient humans discovered—not just through minute observation, but by surrendering to the philosophy of "art re-making" while navigating the very real demands of utility, patronage, and religious requirements.
The Immersive Approach-
My dual background in the technical and theoretical puts me in a unique position. For me, art history isn't just a museum tool; it is an immersive experience. My teaching doesn't stop at "what was made when." Instead, it focuses on:
Perception & The Psyche: How an individual connects their own internal world with the artistic idea they are witnessing.
Multi-Psyche Theory: Acknowledging that there are as many minds as there are heads. There is no single philosophy that explains art; rather, art is a vessel for the collective subconscious.
The Practical Bridge: Understanding a tradition like Kalamkari is better when you know how it came to be and how to create it at home.
Art History as a Tool for Empathy
Studying the iconographies of ancient Indian caves isn't just about identifying symbols; it’s about understanding the sociopolitical and religious pressures of the time. When we look at the murals of Ajanta, we shouldn't just listen to the critics. We should focus on how the work makes us feel—the curiosity it sparks and the humility of connecting with a creator across centuries.
By studying and practicing art history, we celebrate the strong identity of the individual and the free will of expression without judgment. It helps us question the philosophy behind the idea, allowing us to become more empathetic toward the world as a collective whole. My goal is to connect a student to a work of art so deeply that they don’t just want to study it—they want to pick up a brush and make a wall painting sample for themselves
