What Sets Me Apart
Patience with struggle: I recognize that confusion is part of learning, not failure. I reframe mistakes as diagnostic tools
Growth mindset framing: I emphasize that struggle builds competence, which reduces math anxiety and programming frustration
Individualized explanations: I don't have a one-size-fits-all script; I listen to what a student is actually confused about and rephrase until it clicks
Recap/Review: I will provide a recap and a review for each lesson so we can ensure understanding.
Concept introduction (10-15 min): Clear explanation with visual examples or diagrams, avoiding jargon until necessary
Guided practice (15-20 min): Worked examples where I model problem-solving, then gradually reduce support as the student takes the lead
Independent practice (10-15 min): Student solves similar problems with me available for clarification, not answers
Reflection and assignment (5 min): We review what clicked, what needs reinforcement, and I assign targeted practice.
Primary audience:
1st to high school students struggling with math or introductory programming concepts
College students in programming fundamentals
Adult learners returning to education or self-teaching technical skills
