Zach is a respected tutor in our community. He is highly recommended for his commitment and the quality of his lessons. A trusted partner on your learning journey.
About Zach
I bring real-world experience from working as a full-time producer in Los Angeles, with credits and collaborations spanning artists and producers such as The Fray, Doja Cat, The Kid LAROI, London On Da Track, French Montana, Iann Dior, and many others.
My teaching style is relaxed, creative, and hands-on. I believe production should be about developing your own sound rather than simply learning how to use software. I’m especially passionate about helping students develop their sense of rhythm and learn how to make drums that feel powerful, musical, and professional.
Whether you're completely new to production or looking to take your existing skills further, my goal is to give you practical tools and confidence that you can take into your own music.

My lessons are tailored to each student's goals, experience, and musical interests. Rather than focusing heavily on technical theory, I emphasize developing your ear, creativity, rhythm, and confidence as a producer.
Lessons can include Ableton fundamentals, drum programming, arrangement, sound selection, mixing concepts, and hands-on work creating your own music. I also incorporate my background in percussion to help students understand rhythm and create bigger, more dynamic drums.
We'll build a lesson plan around what you want to make and where you want to improve, while developing skills that you can apply independently to your own productions.

Zach is the best! He cares about people and is very knowledgeable in the music world, production, and music theory, and knows how to explain things that is easy to understand for anyone, even when the topics are complicated. We know each other as we are collaborators and music together alot! Every single time we’ve made music together it’s always a positive experience. I definitely reccomend him and he would get any student along the path to greatness!
I have known Zach for many years. His teaching style is logical, thoughtful and encouraging. He is always well prepared and super knowledgable about the whole production process. I highly recommend him!
I've worked with Zach for years, and he knows production inside and out. Plenty of skilled producers can't explain what they're doing or why, but Zach is able to break it all down in a way that makes sense regardless of your level. If you're interested in learning how to produce music, I highly recommend him as a teacher!
I'm one of Zach's A&Rs at Honua Music, the publishing company he's signed to, so I've worked alongside him a lot and seen how he teaches other writers and producers. What I appreciate most is how hands-on he is — he's really good at taking something technically dense in a production and breaking it down in a way that actually makes sense. As a producer, his sound selection/sonics are super unique, but he still makes it feel accessible instead of intimidating.
Just this week Zach came through one of our camps for a day to teach a group of international students about K-Pop production, and watching him adjust on the fly for a totally different audience made it obvious he's just a natural teacher, not only a great producer. If you want someone who can actually break down the craft and not just talk about it, look no further!Zach is patient as well as very good at what he does. He listens and will be great at understanding what you need to be better, to get you where you want to go.
