About Miles
I am a professional saxophone tutor with 11 years of experience working with college students. My teaching philosophy is based on patience, consistency, and musical growth. I focus on helping students become confident and expressive players.
My lessons cover tone quality, breath management, finger technique, rhythm training, and performance preparation. I balance technical exercises with creative learning such as improvisation. Real-life music examples help students understand practical application.
I use modern teaching tools like recording feedback, structured learning plans, and play-along sessions. Music theory, ear training, and sight-reading support overall musical development.
Whether students aim to perform on stage or play for enjoyment, I provide steady guidance and a supportive learning environment.

My teaching methodology for Saxophone is based on clarity, creativity, and steady progress. I begin by understanding the student’s level, musical interests, and learning pace. Lessons focus on building strong basics such as correct posture, controlled breathing, embouchure formation, finger coordination, tone development, articulation, and rhythm accuracy. Each topic is explained in a simple and practical way so students can easily apply it during practice.
Creativity is encouraged by allowing students to explore different sounds, learn melodies they enjoy, and practise basic improvisation. As a mentor, I guide students patiently, motivate them during difficult stages, and help them build confidence in their abilities. I believe encouragement and guidance are as important as technical training.
Critical thinking is developed by teaching students to listen carefully to their own playing, identify mistakes, and understand how to improve. Accountability is maintained through structured practice routines, weekly goals, and regular feedback. Along with Saxophone, I also teach Music Theory, Ear Training, Rhythm Practice, and Scale Studies to support complete musical development.
