About 雅蘭
I am a native Chinese who has lived in China for over 20 years. I was a student journalist for local newspaper for over six years from primary to middle school. Then, I started doing cultural communication and teaching my foreign teachers' sons (who were in primary school) at that time. After graduated from high school, I taught Chinese to primary students for half an year as an intern Chinese teacher. At university, as a voluntary teacher of Chinese corner, I I taught foreigners (both teachers and students) Chinese.

I got a bachelor's degree for Chinese-English translation in China and got an "excellent" for my oral Chinese test, and then I'm studying theatre performance in Edinburgh. I'm a optimistic and considerate person who thinks languages are better acquired than learned. Therefore, I make different plans for teaching students of different ages and with different purposes. For example, as for young children, I prefer to teach them through games and story telling/performing, which would arouse their early interests in Chinese. As for adults, I will teach from four aspects, listening, speaking, reading and writing. For academic purposes I will focus more on grammar and vocabulary, mainly through sentence-making and comparing similar phrases. As for those who seek for perfect oral expression, I will focus more on their pronuciation and simple vocabulary for daily communication. For adults I will add more information about Chinese traditions such as calligraphy, tea ceromony, martial arts, etc., because I know these things very well, and I think learning Chinese through learning Chinese culture will be more interesting.

Details
My rates vary according to students' levels and their purposes for studying Chinese. Children's beginner-level and adults' oral expression-level would be cheaper than those of academic-level. I have the right to cancel or rearrange another time for the class, but I will tell my students in advance.
