About Gert
I have forty nine (49) years of Engineering and Total Quality Management Experience.
I have a sound experience in the fields of Contract Management, Quality Management, Engineering, Production, Project Management, Financial Control, Commercial and other related fields. (Mechanical and Electrical and-Total Project Management)
My career was mostly in the automotive, mining, and military, manufacturing/engineering fields.
I have, throughout my career, managed contracts from client request for proposal to final financial closure of R400million on a regular basis and have participated in compiling a tender of R1, 2 BILLION for ARMSCOR in 1996.
My major strong point is that I can solve various problems in various sciences e.g. Contract Management, Quality Management, Engineering, Production, Project Management, Commercial and other related fields.
I have trained, mentored and audited many a graduated engineer to high levels in all aspects of TQM.
Some of my Highlights.
1) EHL
(Electrical Consulting Engineers):
i) Created a Total Quality Training Program for engineers and supporting staff;
ii) Instituted T.Q.M. and a unique auditing system, which resulted in ISO 9001:2008 QMS certification/accreditation;
iii) Created and Introduced a unique Document Control System; and
iv) Created and successfully introduced a quality financial control system. (Budgeting, Quotation/Tenders, Cost Control
2) LODOX Medical Machines.
2.1 Best achievements
i) Training personnel for ISO Audit and Achieving ISO (International Standards Organisation) Certification and Accreditation for LODOX.
ii) Training and mentoring the Quality Control Manager.
3) Reumech OMC.
i) Promoted to project engineer in 1991, project manager G6 (Military Vehicle) in 1993 and project manager Rooikat in 1994(Military Vehicle).
ii) Turnover 120 million Rand per month.
iii) Solved various financial, engineering and scientific problems.
4) Cementation Engineering.
i) I introduced statistical process and quality control and brought the component production reject rate down from 9.5 % to 0.5%.
ii) Solved major problems with inter manufacturing line discrepancies.
iii) Saved the company millions of Rand with correcting field testing and acceptance problems.
5 Armscor
i) Financial Budgeting and Forecasting (Budget Control of R 400,000,000-00 to R 450,000,000-00 per year.)
ii) Involved in massive quality system implementation, ARMSCOR and International Quality systems.
iii) Involved in R& D.
iv) Production assistance and monitoring.
I shall present examples of the Training and Financial systems at and when an Interview can be arranged.
During my four years of ‘Semi Retirement’ I kept busy with the following:
1) Wrote and published a book ’Money Is Freedom’.
2) Busy with my second book ‘Total Quality In Project Management’. (40% Complete); and,
3) Working on my own designs for the engineering and military environment.
My hobbies are fine art, mainly oil painting, gardening, general reading and the occasional chess game.
