About Samuel
I’m Samuel Nguyen, a recent International Baccalaureate graduate with a 43.5 IB score and 99.25 ATAR. Having completed the IB myself, I understand the demands of the current IB curriculum and how to succeed within it.
My tutoring is clear, structured, and tailored to each student. I focus on simplifying complex concepts, strengthening exam technique, and building confidence through efficient study strategies. I help students achieve their target results while maintaining a balanced, healthy lifestyle, similar to my experience managing the IB alongside over ten hours per week of commitments, including cello, tennis, and a healthy social life.

My approach to tutoring is structured, personalised, and results-focused. As a recent International Baccalaureate graduate (43.5 IB / 99.25 ATAR), I understand the IB curriculum from a student’s perspective and teach strategies that actually work in exams and assessments.
Each lesson is typically 60 minutes and tailored to the student’s immediate needs. Sessions may focus on concept mastery, breaking down difficult content, improving exam technique, or refining internal assessments. I prioritise clarity and understanding first, then reinforce learning through guided practice and targeted questions.
My teaching methodology emphasises:
- Clear explanations using intuitive frameworks
- Identifying and fixing knowledge gaps early
- Teaching efficient study methods and exam strategies
- Building confidence and independence over time
I have experience tutoring both academically and musically, including one-on-one support for HSC and IB-level students, as well as formal cello tuition up to diploma level. These roles have strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching style to different learning speeds and personalities.
