Jim has been my mentor, teacher and director (Jim Bunting Dance Company) for the past four years. To describe him as trustworthy does not even break the surface of the amazing depths within his teaching abilities. As I was a former ballet dancer, Jim exuded incredible patience to help me become the contemporary dancer I am today. I am only one example but can attest to what I have witnessed throughout these four years. New dancers come into Jim's company and within such a short amount of time I have seem dancers excel beyond expectations, grow, feel confident, and learn how to develop characters/ stories on stage that make performing riveting, fun, emotionally driven, and the list could go on forever. He is able to take each one of his students/dancers and create around their individual/unique styles and techniques to develop innovative, exciting works captivating audiences. To culminate his work into one simple adjective feels impossible. Jim creates a different world of art and wonder every time we learn new choreography. Not only does Jim adhere to our unique abilities, he will without a doubt challenge us in and outside the classroom. EX: how to bring our outside life experience into the classroom/ how to develop our characters for choreography in our outside lives. There is much more to Jim that makes him absolutely trustworthy as a teacher and choreographer. Jim Bunting has experience as a professional dancer. He is passionate, creative, motivative, and will always set up his students and dancer up for success whether it is in the classroom, on the stage, or in day to day life.

Working with Jim has been such a gift. He is not only an incredibly talented dancer and choreographer, but also a thoughtful teacher who creates an accepting, inclusive space where you can feel comfortable showing up as you are. His lessons are both supportive and challenging in the best way; guiding you to grow not just as a dancer, but as a performer, storyteller, and artist. I’ll admit, as someone who once danced every day but gave up the dream many years ago, I initially put a lot of internal pressure on myself by proving in these sessions that I still had the capability and fire within. After a few weeks with Jim, I have not only learned new concepts and techniques but have relaxed my drive to prove and now enjoy dancing and creating in the moment. I place high value on being authentic and present in my life and thank Jim for helping me get out of my own way in the dance studio.
