About Erica

Hi, my name is Erica, and I love teaching because I want to share the pure joy of learning another language. My sessions offer a variety of approaches tailored to your individual linguistic needs, ensuring they are perfectly suited to your ability and learning style.

I also create unique, handmade resources designed to complement school teaching and provide students with additional support. By dedicating considerable time to the fundamentals of grammar and exam technique, students make rapid progress in areas that are often overlooked in mainstream teaching. My aim is to build strong foundations, develop confidence and help each student reach their full potential.

About the lesson

My sessions are unique because I have recently sat my own GCSE and A-level exams and, through tutoring students across different exam boards, have developed a wealth of practical exam techniques that are proven to work. I focus on the small details that can maximise marks, help students surpass grade boundaries and approach challenging questions with confidence. I employ my own acronyms, learning techniques and resources alongside spaced repetition, reinforcement, ‘me, us, you’ tasks, independent work and constant conversation. Knowledge is continually tested and revisited to ensure students genuinely understand and retain what they're taught.

I make students feel comfortable making mistakes and greatly encourage them to ask questions when they are stuck and to question why something works, rather than simply memorising it.
