About Aloune
Hey! I'm Meriem, although many of my students know me as "Teacher Mey."
Before becoming an English teacher, I was a Biology student because I have always been fascinated by science. However, my love for English was impossible to ignore. I still remember speaking English with my mother when I was only five years old. Back then, I never imagined becoming a teacher. To be honest, I thought teaching was repetitive and boring—a job where people simply memorized information and repeated the same lessons every year. As someone who loves adventure, creativity, and fun, I never saw myself in that role.
Everything changed when I started studying at the British Council. I discovered that my English level was already strong, and I realized that learning could be engaging, interactive, and adapted to each student's needs. Around the same time, I noticed that whenever I explained something to someone, they would often tell me how easy I made it seem. That was when I started considering teaching as a career.
Eventually, I decided to pursue English instead of Biology, and it remains one of the best decisions I have ever made. Today, I strive to make every lesson enjoyable, personalized, and meaningful. I love creating games, using storytelling, and designing activities that help students learn naturally while having fun.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been seeing how English can transform people's lives. I have taught professionals who gained access to new opportunities, advanced in their careers, and became more confident simply because they were able to communicate in English. Seeing those changes made me realize that I am not just teaching a language—I am helping people unlock new possibilities for their future.
That is why I continue investing in my professional development through international training and certifications. I strongly believe that great teaching requires continuous learning, and I am always looking for new ways to improve my skills and better support my students.

Hello, I'm Meriem, a TESOL-Certified English Teacher (CELTA-Equivalent, CPD-Accredited) and Dale Carnegie-trained Communication Skills Trainer with over 5 years of teaching experience. I have also received training from CELTA tutors and completed professional development courses in Cambridge tutoring methodologies.
My lessons are practical, interactive, student-centered, and focused on real communication. Rather than simply memorizing grammar rules, students learn how to speak confidently in real-life situations, professional environments, job interviews, presentations, and everyday conversations all while enjoying engaging games and activities. I use personalized speaking tasks, role-plays, guided discussions, pronunciation coaching, and confidence-building exercises tailored to each learner's goals.
As someone who genuinely loves languages, my goal is to pass that passion on to my students. I believe learning English should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, not just a process of memorizing rules.
Lessons are adapted to each student's level, pace, and learning style. I work with teenagers, university students, professionals, job seekers, and adult learners looking to improve their fluency, Business English, interview skills, workplace communication, or overall confidence in English.
Having trained more than 400 learners through my teaching programs and speaking initiatives, I understand the challenges faced by shy speakers and non-native English learners. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, speaking freely, and making measurable progress in every lesson.
