About Derek
Life Performance Enhancement represents the future in fitness, sport performance, and rehabilitation. LPE has been servicing the needs of San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange counties for 20 years. LPE is owned by former Azusa Pacific University strength and conditioning coach Derek Wohlers.
Helping people experience their potential, recover from injury, and get on a path to freedom in their physicality.
After graduating from college I began coaching at the high school level and soon after was asked to coach at my alma mater Azusa Pacific University. I've been involved with working with athletes since that time.
Expert in Strength and Conditioning and Human Performance with extensive experience in leadership: developing, implementing, coaching, and supervising various fitness, sport performance, and rehabilitative programs. Noted for creativity and innovative coaching methods.
Levels of coaching experience includes high school, college (Azusa PacificUniversity), national recruiting and player development (MVP Baseball, Baseball Factory). I have experience coaching athletes in MLB, as well as international track and field. Expert in human movement with specificity in the shoulder joint as well as rotation of the spine.
Extensive experience in coaching the following: mobility, flexibility, neurological stimulation, movement segmentation, movement sequencing, strength, speed, rehabilitation, general weight loss, healthy aging, etc. Expansive knowledge of medical terminology, strength and conditioning equipment.
Experience in managing diverse environments of university strength and conditioning facilities across Midwest and west coast. Experience in handling dual responsibility as a baseball and strength and conditioning coach at the high school and university level.

Experience in entrepreneurialism; starting a business that has served the community through fitness, sport performance, and rehabilitation services for 18+ years. Served as Chief Financial Officer for a 501-c3 non-profit focused on using sports to reach at-risk-youth and offer life changing opportunities.
Mentorship to younger professionals in the fitness and sport performance industry through internship opportunities offered to local universities. Students received on the on-the-job training.

Life Performance Enhancement represents the future in fitness, sport performance, and rehabilitation. LPE has been servicing the needs of San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange county for 21 years.
All clients receive a Musculoskeletal assessment. This gives LPE an exhaustive understanding of their current state of physicality. A personal program can then be created that provides the client with a program that enhances their individual needs for mobility, flexibility, functional movement, strength, and power that pertains to their personal goals.
LPE clients include MLB, USA Track & Field, NAIA, NCAA, PGA athletes as well as fitness enthusiates from San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties.
athletic experience is valuable for the coach to have. Those coaches who have coached at multiple levels will provide a wider array of communication skills and teaching techniques which will yield in faster understanding of the student. Education is very important as well as additional credentials. An area of expertise demonstates a desire for absolute undersatnding and will usually yeild a superior understanding of the sport discipline.

Excellent! Gave me some useful tips to follow in my initial set up. Recorded my swing to analyze. Worked on my set up for woods, irons, chipping abd putting. Also a better way to aim at the hole.

Coach Derek structures every workout to the specific needs of our teen. Coach is very mindful of what our son needs in order to be the best athlete he can be. We appreciate that he shares the amazing way that God created our bodies to move and function. Coach Derek has taken time to come to games, watch videos, and give feedback on what he sees, as well as using that to adjust future workouts. Our son truly enjoys his time with Coach and we feel it has made a big difference for him.

Derek has been working with our son for several weeks now. He has worked with his natural skill set making the necessary changes to refine and improve his pitching and hitting. He is patient, methodical and really knows baseball.
I learned a lot about baseball and how my muscles work together to help me perform at my best. This program helped me with arm care and arm strength. Also, it made it so I was more explosive and had a faster first step. I have grown a lot through the program and now I have a better arm and more velocity on my throw.
I liked working at life performance enhancement because I did movements and exercises my body has never done which helped my strength and flexibility. It pushed me to my limits and I became stronger and more physical.
I have had the privilege of training with Derek for my upcoming baseball season. I have played professionally for 7 years and have been using my time with him to further progress my skills. He is training me to be able to maximize my body all working together. I highly recommend him whether you are an athlete, rehabbing an injured y, or looking to get into the best shape possible.
