About Samantha
Hi, my name is Samantha and I would love to be a part of the reason that your English improves. It has always been my passion to teach and work with children and so this is my way of also fulfilling my dream to become a teacher. I have a TEFL certificate and I have also been tutoring English one on one with students from grade 3 right up to grade 9. I help them with their grammar and pronunciation of words. I also help them with their reading and understanding of their setbooks. I teach them how to understand different figures of speech and to identify verbs from adjectives to pronouns. Some of the methods I use are very demonstrative and visual. My class will be a fun-filled environment with lots of pictures, games and songs. I also believe that students should play an active role in the classroom, that they should never be afraid of asking questions as this will bring better understanding. My experience with teaching young children English helps me to understand that they can get easily distracted and so I have to make sure that my class is very active and appealing to them.
I would use bright colours and pictures that they can relate to and sometimes teaching children means that you will also have to be a little child-like.
My methods will be very demonstrative and visual.
Using a visual method by showing them pictures, playing games and even singing songs.
I will also be asking them questions after a lesson to see how much understanding they have so that I will know what to concentrate on in our next lesson.
I would also be involved in a lot of dialogue where I would ask them about themselves, their hobbies, and favourite songs or movies.
In this way, learning more about them and personalising each lesson.
Each lesson will have to be different to that specific individual and what level they are in the English language.
I also believe in rewarding children for all their accomplishments and celebrating their victories.
I love working with young children so my lessons are mainly for those from age 5 to 15.
