About James
Setting the pace early in the session ensures we address posture and hold before diving into the finer details of shifting positions. Adjusting your grip mid-thought is quite common, and I make sure we treat these technical resets as part of the artistry. We will use my 8 years of experience to systematically cover scales and arpeggios, spiccato, staccato, and the mechanics of vibrato.
I bring my training from Humber College to ensure your left-hand agility and rhythm remain rock solid throughout every piece. Advanced learners often appreciate how I integrate music theory directly into our repertoire work to clarify why specific notes need more weight.
To keep your home practice sharp, I provide free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson. This ensures you have a roadmap for your home practice sessions. Watching you prepare for camp with confidence is my favorite part of the process. Let us get your playing ready for the stage.

Working through the technical challenges of the violin requires a teacher who understands the nuance of the craft. Having completed my Bachelor of Music at Humber College and RCM Grade 10, I view these early stages as the foundation for everything that follows. I have spent 8 years helping students navigate the complexities of classical training. My own path began with a primary focus on violin at Schulich, while keeping guitar and voice as vital secondary studies.
Working with kids, teens, and advanced players has shown me that technical precision is the only way to achieve freedom on the instrument. It is rewarding to see students transform their playing through disciplined study. I find it truly delightful when a student finally achieves the specific sound they have been chasing for months.
