About Austin Zaff

I am a producer, audio engineer, mixing/mastering engineer, guitar player, singer and songwriter. I have been producing for 10 years. I got my Bachelors of Music from the Purchase College Conservatory of Music where I studied studio production, mixing, mastering, composition, and music theory.

I have a deep love of all things music, and I want to help you foster your talents and grow in any and all areas of music production that you wish to learn. I have a student-led approach to teaching; everyone is unique and I want to help foster your uniqueness, not fit you into a box. I will provide expertise, guidance and knowledge while encouraging you to be yourself and become the best you can be.

About the lesson

My lessons are based on what you as the student wish to learn. I will always follow the passions and interests of my students and help them learn whatever they wish to learn.

I will teach everything from the fundamentals of sound and audio, to how to operate your DAW to how a compressor works and what microphones to use for what application. Any thing you'd like to learn about music production I will teach. I will also emphasize the importance of how to listen and strong fundamental understanding of how things work. With a great ear and strong fundamentals you will be able to continue to improve and advance long after you are finished taking lessons.

Whether you are a complete beginner or already highly advanced I can provide the tools and insights to realize your full potential. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where you can build the confidence and mastery. I will also help you to set personal goals and help provide the structure you need to achieve those goals.

I believe anyone who is highly motivated and willing to put in the work can learn and master anything they wish. My goal is to simply provide the feedback, knowledge, structure and environment you need to accomplish whatever you desire.
