About Marina
Hello, my name is Marina and have been teaching English as a second Language for 10 years. I am currently studying for my Master's Degree on Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Birmingham. Here's how it all started. After finishing high school, I started studying Psychology. While studying there, I got interested in teaching English to young learners and my studies in Psychology helped me during those first years of teaching to have better relations with my students and find more student-friendly ways to convey knowledge to them, like using pictures for teaching vocabulary and playing educational games. The experience I have gained throughout the years has enabled me to have a better understanding of the basic grammatic phenomena and which tools to use to make my students understand and use them. Moreover, I have been able to build meaningful relationships with my students and I have learnt how to work as a member of a team, collaborating with other teachers as much as possible. In regard to designing a lesson, I always exchange ideas with my colleagues, but at the same I try to use my own initiative and choose the elements I find more appropriate for each lesson. Moreover, I have learnt how to work under pressure, as I had to design a lesson plan for a 45-minute lesson and complete everything before that time. In addition, I have a good knowledge of using computers, for example Word and Powerpoint. I also know how to work in Photoshop, which I use to create engaging material(worksheets, tests) for my students. Finally, I believe my most important stength is that I truly believe in my students. I think that every student has the ability to become better every day and I encourage them to do that in every way that I can. Every student can improve at their own pace and it is vital that we respect that.

Marina has been my English teacher for the past 2 years. When we started, I spoke little English, but now my English has improved a lot. She is one of the best teachers I ever had and she also helped me with my IELTS exams.
I started having private lessons with Marina when I wanted to improve my Engish level. Marina is a very kind and patient teacher and was very supportive during our preparation. The lessons with her were always interesting and motivating and she always explained everything clearly. I would recommend Marina to anyone wanting to learn English as a second language.
