About Alex
I’m a professional software engineer with a first-class degree in computer science and around three years of industry experience. I’ve been teaching informally for years. At university I taught lower-year students through a student society, and at work I regularly help junior developers get to grips with new concepts. What I love most is the moment something finally clicks and a student goes from confused to confident. I want to bring that to more people, because I believe anyone can understand computer science when it’s broken down into simple pieces and built back up step by step.

Software engineer making computer science simple, from GCSE to university.
About me
I’m a professional software engineer with a first-class degree and around three years in industry. I believe any topic in computer science can be understood if it’s broken down into small enough pieces, and that’s how I teach. We start with the simplest version of an idea, then build it up step by step until you can see how all the parts fit together.
I’ve been teaching informally for years. At university I taught lower-year students through a student society, and at work I regularly help junior developers get to grips with new concepts. My favourite part is the moment it clicks and someone goes from confused to confident.
Who I teach
GCSE and A level students: WJEC-focused support covering theory, programming and problem-solving, with plenty of past-paper practice.
University students: help with modules, assignments and tricky topics such as data structures, algorithms and object-oriented programming. I’ll help you understand your work so you can do it yourself.
Adult beginners: a relaxed, jargon-free introduction to coding, whether you’re curious, changing career or want to understand the tech you use every day.
My lessons
Lessons last one hour to two hours and are shaped around your goals. I check understanding as we go rather than rushing through material, so you leave each lesson knowing what you’ve learned and what comes next.
