About Ding Hong

I recently graduated from high school and have been playing guitar for around four years. I regularly share videos of my guitar performances online, where they have received positive feedback and support from viewers. I am fluent in three languages: Chinese (Mandarin), English and Japanese, which allows me to communicate with students from diverse backgrounds. I have a strong interest in J-pop, K-pop, Mandopop and Western pop music, and I mainly play styles such as lo-fi, jazz, R&B, neo-soul and J-pop.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is patient, practical and student-centred. I focus on creating a relaxed and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Lessons are structured but flexible, allowing me to adapt to each student’s pace, interests and goals.

I use step-by-step teaching methods, starting with fundamental guitar techniques, basic chords and rhythm. As students progress, I introduce simple music theory, chord progressions and ear training to help them understand how music works, not just how to play it. I also use familiar songs to keep lessons engaging and relevant, and I regularly demonstrate by singing and playing guitar to model timing, coordination and musical expression.

Lessons typically run for 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, attention span and learning needs. I provide clear guidance, practical exercises and encouragement to help students build confidence and consistency between lessons.

My lessons are suitable for beginner students of all ages, including children, teenagers and adults, whether they are learning guitar for the first time or returning to it after a break.
