About Austin
I started out my music journey at Yamaha, following their Junior Music Courses which emphasized music appreciation, rhythm exercises, and simple keyboard playing.
I then moved on to private lessons following the ABRSM syllabus, and have achieved Grade 6 Piano Practical Distinction and Grade 5 Theory Distinction. Along the way, I have taken other grades and always achieved distinction. Currently, I am still learning and preparing to take Grade 6 Theory and Grade 8 Practical within the next few months.
I am a curious student with a deep love for music, I choose pieces that inspire me and practice them diligently, with occasional learning pop music/game music/EDM piano pieces. I believe that music theory is interesting, and seek to understand the reason behind certain rules or regulations of traditional music creation, rather than blindly following them. If given the chance, I promise to make your music journey enjoyable and exciting.

I offer piano and music theory lessons for beginners and lower grades (Grade 1–5), suitable for students who want to build a strong foundation or prepare for ABRSM exams.
For piano, lessons focus on understanding rhythm, reading notes confidently, developing technique, and gaining practical tips for playing pieces with musicality and dynamics.
For music theory, I emphasise understanding rather than memorisation, helping students grasp concepts and excel in exams with clear strategies, tips and tricks and insights.
Lessons are 30–60 minutes, depending on your preference, and can be tailored for short-term crash courses or long-term learning. Available to all genders and age groups and I teach at my home on an upright Wilh. Steinberg piano, or I can travel to students’ homes near the East.
Learning Piano and music theory sharpens your mind, boosts creativity and makes music a joyful way of expressing your life. Start your music journey now!
