About Eilie
My name is Eilie and I will be starting a PhD at the end of this year. I have dyslexia, which gives me a unique perspective on how dyslexia impacts information processing and learning. This is why I leaned into the visual learning side of revision, with the use of diagrams rather than blocks of text, to help me understand the information before I attempted to learn it. With starting a PhD, I intend to help with undergraduate studies through laboratory assistance and possibly supervisory roles. Therefore, I want to use this platform to maximise my teaching experience and understand the best ways to convey information to students of all abilities.

Each lesson can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on time availability and the topic being covered. I am a visual learner and benefitted from the use of diagrams to explain complex biological systems in GCSE, A Level, and throughout my university career. Thus, using diagrams to work through topics is my core technique to break down the information into manageable pieces to fully understand the topic before learning takes place. Each lesson will include a walkthrough using diagrams (where applicable) and breaking the information up to highlight the key points. I will be able to email the notes I have worked on during the lesson to the student, where appropriate. I can teach up to the undergraduate level including all levels of secondary school biology.
