About Aleza
Hi, I'm so glad you're here! I'm a psychologist and researcher with a PhD in Psychology, specializing in academic motivation and the science of how people learn. I've spent my career in academic and research settings studying why students struggle and — more importantly — what actually helps them succeed.
But honestly, my passion for this work goes deeper than my credentials. I'm neurodivergent myself — I have ADHD and dyslexia — and I spent a lot of my own educational journey feeling frustrated, misunderstood, and like my brain just wasn't built for school. Earning my PhD wasn't just an academic achievement for me; it was proof that the right strategies and the right support can change everything. That experience is at the heart of everything I bring to my tutoring work.
I work with learners of all ages — from elementary school all the way through adulthood — and I genuinely love meeting students where they are. Whether you're a college student drowning in statistics, a high schooler who can't figure out how to study for exams, or a kid who just needs someone patient and encouraging in their corner, I'm here for it.
What drives me most as a tutor is watching students grow into independent learners over time — that moment when they stop needing me to walk them through every step and start trusting their own abilities. That never gets old.
When I'm not tutoring or researching, you'll find me doing stand-up comedy or training in gymnastics — two things that have nothing in common except that they both require practice, resilience, and being okay with falling down sometimes. I think that's a pretty good philosophy for learning too.
I'd love to work with you — let's find an approach that works for your brain.

Every student I work with is different, so rather than following a rigid formula, I tailor each session entirely to your needs, goals, and learning style.
Who This Is For
My lessons are a great fit for elementary, middle school, high school, college, and adult learners across all subjects and degree levels — especially students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or frustrated with traditional learning approaches. I have particular expertise supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD and dyslexia, though all students are warmly welcome.
What We Work On
Depending on what you need, sessions can cover:
Time management and planning systems that actually stick
Test-taking strategies to reduce anxiety and improve performance
Research and academic writing methods
Statistics and data interpretation
Motivation, procrastination, and building consistent study habits
Organization systems tailored to how your brain works
How Sessions Are Structured
There's no one-size-fits-all lesson plan here. For some students, we begin with an intake conversation to map out goals and identify where things are breaking down. For others, we jump straight into what's most pressing that week. Each session adapts to where you are right now — whether that's an upcoming exam, a research paper, or simply wanting to feel less lost in your coursework. The through-line in every session is breaking complex material into manageable steps and building strategies you can use independently long after our work together ends.
What Sets Me Apart
I hold a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in academic motivation and study strategies — so the techniques I teach are grounded in real research on how people learn. But beyond credentials, I bring something most tutors can't: lived experience. I personally navigated ADHD and dyslexia on my way to earning a doctorate, which means I don't just understand these challenges academically — I've felt them firsthand. I know what it's like when traditional methods don't work, and I know how transformative it is to finally find an approach that clicks.
My goal isn't just to help you get through the next assignment — it's to help you become a more confident, capable, and independent learner for life.
