About Lydia
Hello! I'm Lydia, a Welsh medical student currently in my fourth year at Keele University, with experience of navigating the UCAT, medical school interviews, and the medical school application process. I understand how competitive and demanding applying to medicine can be, both for students and their families, and I aim to provide clear, supportive guidance throughout each stage.
I chose to tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping students grow in confidence and understanding, particularly during stressful academic periods. I remember how overwhelming the medical school application process can feel, and I am motivated to make this journey clearer and more manageable for others.
Alongside my studies, I have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students and regularly teaching and mentoring junior medical students in both written exams and practical assessments. I enjoy explaining challenging concepts in a clear, patient, and approachable way, and I place strong emphasis on encouragement as well as academic progress.
I am professional, reliable, and well organised, and I strive to create a calm and encouraging learning environment. Lessons are carefully structured, punctual, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I am patient and flexible in my teaching style, recognising that every student learns differently.
I am familiar with current expectations for medical school applications and can offer practical, up-to-date advice. I have a particular interest in paediatrics and oncology, and this aspiration shapes my supportive and compassionate approach to working with young people.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and follow appropriate safeguarding principles at all times. All lessons are delivered online, and I am happy to answer any questions from parents or students before starting tutoring. :)

I offer a calm, friendly, and supportive approach to tutoring, helping students feel confident and well-prepared throughout the medical school application process. As a current UK medical student, I have recent first-hand experience of the UCAT, interviews, and applying to medicine, so I understand both the academic demands and the pressures students can feel during this time.
Lessons are always tailored to the individual student. For UCAT preparation, I focus on teaching clear techniques for each section, practising questions together, and helping students understand how to approach problems step by step. For medical school interviews, I support students in structuring their answers, expressing their ideas clearly, and building confidence through guided practice of common MMI and panel interview questions. Feedback is always constructive and encouraging, with a focus on steady improvement.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, which allows enough time for focused learning without becoming overwhelming. Each session usually includes a brief check-in, targeted teaching or practice, and time for questions and feedback. I also offer gentle guidance on how students can practise between lessons, helping them feel supported without added pressure.
I have experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students and regularly teach and mentor junior medical students. I am patient, approachable, and happy to explain concepts in different ways until students feel comfortable and confident.
My lessons are suitable for students aged approximately 16–19 who are preparing for the UCAT, medical school interviews, or applying to medicine, as well as students who would like a supportive introduction to the first year of medical school. All lessons are delivered online, providing flexibility for families and students.

Lydia has supported me through my pre-clinical years at medical school, helping me to understand complex topics, focusing on high-yield content, and the best ways to integrate this into my clinical placements. Lydia has been very encouraging, and I would highly recommend her to any student wishing to boost their marks in medical school!
