Dennis taught me Classical Greek, Classical Latin, and Linguistics for over 3 years. I was taking these lessons over the pandemic out of my general interest in languages and classical texts. Dennis is an extremely patient teacher, and puts in a lot of effort in preparing for his lessons. He has a lot of study material that he personally put together over the course of his teaching career, which is extremely useful. He is also extremely well-versed in a wide variety of topics concerning the classical Greek and Roman culture and history, as well as deep and specific linguistics concepts applicable broadly across several languages. I am really grateful to have had him as my tutor, and wholeheartedly recommend him for pretty much anything he's comfortable teaching.

I reached out to Dennis two years ago when I was at the beginning of a master’s program and needed to learn Attic Greek. Dennis is the best tutor I have ever had — he knows his stuff SO well (he has an answer to every question I could possibly have, and I have asked him some pretty weird/in the weeds questions about Greek); he is an excellent teacher and knows how impart his vast knowledge in an accessible, fun, and kind way; he has teaching materials that are extremely helpful and that you the student have access to 24/7; he is accommodating and never shamey, only kind; and in a practical sense, he is available almost any time I could ask for. He not only has helped me with Greek, but when I started learning Latin, he was a resource for me as well, and when I was applying to doctoral programs, he was always helpful and in my corner. Dennis is truly wonderful in all these ways. What is even more special for me, however, is that Dennis has become a true friend over the past two years. He is genuine and special and I could not give a stronger recommendation to anyone if I tried!

I’m a big fan of Dennis! I first began working with him when I was in high school and he saw me through college. Dennis is by far one of the best teachers I have had the fortune to work with in my academic career. He is engaging and insightful while being patient and encouraging. He approaches his students as a whole and not just as the subject matter at hand, allowing you to build confidence. My favorite part about working with Dennis is he is super nice, easy to talk to, and truly wants to see you succeed.
