About William

I graduated from Boston University's Creative Writing Program in 2006, where I had the incredible fortune to learn from, and work with people like Robert Pinsky, Derek Walcott, Louise Glück, Geoffrey Hill, Nancy Kassell, and David Ferry. Later that year, I received The Academy of American Poets Prize at Boston University, before founding The Bay State Underground reading series. I am also the only student in the history of the program to have had Geoffrey Hill as a thesis advisor and signatory. In the twenty years since, my poetry has appeared in numerous publications, including The Massachusetts Review, The CT Review, Nimrod, SHAMPOO, The Briar Cliff Review, DMQ, and Salamander. My chapbook, The Possibility of Recovery, was published in 2009 by Červená Barva Press.

About the lesson

I've learned from, and worked with, some of the greatest names in the field. Now, I'm hoping I can share some of that experience with others, like you. Maybe you're looking for advice on manuscript construction and publishing; maybe you just want to improve as a poet; maybe you need help with a line that's driving you crazy; maybe you need someone to offer an objective perspective on a project; maybe you just want to write some fun poems for you; maybe you want to learn more about the art; whatever your goal might be, I will adjust my lessons to match. As an educator, I've worked with students from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds, including people who are approaching English as a second language. I'm comfortable working with clients remotely or in person (depending on geography). I keep a flexible schedule so you can meet your goals on your time. Whatever your age, education level, or goal, I am confident in my ability to offer some help.
