About Matt
I studied French at A-level (A) and now read History and French at the University of Bristol. As part of my degree, I am currently on my year abroad in France, where I live and work in French every day. This has strengthened not only my fluency, but also my understanding of how the language is used naturally in real-life contexts.
French is not just about memorising vocabulary lists — it’s about communicating confidently and understanding how grammar, structure and pronunciation work together. I help students build strong foundations in grammar while also developing fluency, accuracy and spontaneity, particularly for the speaking exam.
Whether it’s improving written answers, mastering key tenses, preparing for role-plays and photo cards, or extending responses to reach the top mark bands, I focus on building both technical accuracy and confidence. I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique — helping students structure answers clearly, avoid common mistakes, and perform calmly under pressure.
My aim is to make French feel logical, manageable and enjoyable, while giving students the tools to achieve their best possible results.
