Regulatory RNAs and posttranscriptional silencing 9. Translation into prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Types of mutations Genetic code .. 10. Molecular labeling and post-translational modifications of proteins. 11. Transfer of genetic material in bacteria, yeasts and plants. 12. PCR and its variants. Workshop of design of primers, qPCR and qRT-PCR 13. Electrophoresis of nucleic acids and proteins; Blotting techniques 14. Recombinant DNA techniques: Restriction enzymes, cloning vectors, recombinant protein expression vectors. Cloning Design Workshop 14. CDNA libraries and libraries. 15. Initiation to the use of bioinformatics tools. OBJECTIVES 1. Acquire the necessary knowledge to understand the main molecular and biochemical events that support the biological processes in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. 2. Understand the molecular basis that determines the flow of genetic information and its regulation. 3. Understand the molecular principles that underlie the various existing techniques for the study and manipulation of nucleic acids and their use to answer biological questions. 4. Dimension the new perspectives of Molecular Biology in light of the recent achievements in genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics and its close connection with the area of bioinformatics / computational biology. 5. Strengthen the work with research articles for a better understanding of the techniques, their applications and scope. 6. Develop the ability to interpret and discuss results. 7. Encourage discussion around research topics to develop understanding of the subject and critical thinking.
